New Year, No Limits Night 1
January 2, 2009
HERSHEYPARK Arena, Harrisburg, PA
New Damage Prowrestling's "New Year - No Limits" tour got off to a bang in the HERSHEYPARK Arena in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The opening match got everyone off their seats and cheering, starting the night off right. Paradigm nearly put away Akira with his trademark Cradle Piledriver, but Akira kicked out and the fight kept going for over 10 more minutes! Akira nearly put Paradigm away with the Deadly Heat Backdrop, but Paradigm spun out of the move in midair and caught Akira with a northern lights suplex to seal the victory over the former NDP Light-Heavyweight Champion.
Paradigm (O) vs (X) Akira Blaze
18:04, Northern Light Suplex
Up next was trios tag action featuring Ryan Ramirez, Ivan Vigoro, and Erica Belleza of ARMADA facing off against Princess Aika, the Charcoal Lady, and Tuxedo Kazen of the Flash Senshi. Princess Aika and Ryan Ramirez started off, building a slower pace to the match than we're used to seeing from either of them. ARMADA didn't take too long before they started to play numbers against the Flash Senshi, using frequent tags, isolation techniques, and general rule-breaking to soften up the soft, fleshy core of the Flash Senshi members. ARMADA also used the big muscle, Ivan Vigoro, to strike down any opposition that the Flash Senshi could build up, but the biggest shock of the match came when Tuxedo Kazen managed somehow to pick Vigoro up and body slam a man that weighs at least three times as much as he does. Tuxedo Kazen didn't waste time in following up, jumping up and giving a big double foot stomp to Vigoro's face, sending the big man fleeing from the ring as blood spilled onto the mat. Ramirez and Belleza now found themselves on the unfavorable side of a 2-3 advantage, and the Flash Senshi finished off ARMADA by giving Belleza the Flash Doomsday [Doomsday Device-style Shining Wizard] and getting the victory.
ARMADA (X) vs (O) Flash Senshi
27:28, Flash Doomsday
When the heavyweights (Ivan Vigoro aside) come to play, they come big. Mr. E vs Gene Starr was next on the bill, and these two nearly tore the house down - literally. They just simply beat the hell out of each other, not really taking things like personal safety and restraint into consideration. They punched each other silly, they headbutted, they kicked the crap out of each other - if you didn't know better, you might've mistaken this one for a street brawl. Near the end of the match, Gene Starr had Mr. E on the turnbuckle, laying into him, and Mr. E headbutts Gene, grabs him up, and gives Gene a fallaway slam OVER the turnbuckle to the outside! Mr. E followed Gene out, grabbing Starr and rolling him into the ring, but Mr. E didn't pull Gene far enough from the ropes to get the pin and Gene got a rope break. Gene and Mr. E continued to fight it out for a few blows, and Gene managed to snap off the Gene Splicer [STO], but either knocked himself on the noggin or he was just worn out from the big fallaway slam from earlier, because Gene wasn't able to get over and roll into a proper pin. But I bet Gene's happy he uses an STO as his finisher and not a Flatliner, cuz the he'd have been the one getting pinned.
Mr. E (X) vs (O) Gene Starr
22:31, Gene Splicer
INTERMISSION
The light-heavyweight division picked us back up after the intermission, with Kaori NiGHT taking on Midnite Rave's "Sugar Raver", Pixi Stik. This would be the first chance to really see what Pixi could do in the ring. Turns out, a lot of what she can do is get her butt kicked by Kaori NiGHT. Pixi put up a good fight, but was just outclassed by the Queen of Professional Wrestling. There were a few instances where Pixi had Kaori down, probably for the victory, but she never acted on it to get the victory, including an amazing overhead belly-to-belly suplex that sent Kaori soaring almost entirely across the ring. Pixi got desperate and tried to use a weapon against NiGHT, but referee Corrine Whal took it from her hands (we couldn't see what it was, but it looked like a baseball bat or maybe a lead pipe) and looked like she wanted to beat Pixi with it herself. This opened Pixi up to a suicide dive from NiGHT, and as the action got back into the ring, Pixi tried to apply a heel hook, but Kaori rolled through into a heel hook of her own (she calls it the Kuwahara Special 3) and Pixi tapped out.

14:05, Kuwahara Special 3
Chapel Hillcrest and Adam Galcian were both accompanied to the ring for this match, by Jason Wesley and Ivan Vigoro (sporting a big bandage on his forehead from what happened earlier in the night) respectively. This was a big test for Chapel Hillcrest, as Adam Galcian is a very tough opponent and Chapel hasn't been an active wrestler in quite some time. Things started off rough for both me, but Chapel soon started throwing his weight around, chokeslamming Galcian early in the match and getting into a definite groove, nearly pinning Galcian with a corkscrew powerbomb just barely five minutes in. The two kept going at it, and the two members of ARMADA tried their best to make things difficult for Chapel, but Jason Wesley quickly made things difficult for ARMADA, allowing Chapel the chance to grab Galcian up in a weird, modified fisherman's DDT he calls "Natural Selection" for the victory.
Chapel Hillcrest (O) vs (X) Adam Galcian
9:54, Natural Selection
The first of two main event matches saw NDP Light-Heavyweight Champion 50CENTAVOS (w/ Toby Yoyo) defending the Championship against Kazen (w/ Tani). FIDDY started off using his usual bullying tactics against Kazen, to some success, as he threw and pummeled the smaller man around, but Kazen started fighting a very smart match, attacking the elbow and wrist of 50CENTAVOS to weaken up some of those blows. This started doign Kazen some good, and as he started mounting a big offense, Toby Yoyo interjected to try and stop Kazen from succeeding. Tani got into the match as well, helping keep Yoyo from being too much of an agent of distraction, and after a reversed backdrop, Kazen went high and connected with a big flying elbow drop onto FIDDY, nearly getting the win. The two continued to battle it out, both coming very close to getting the win, 50CENTAVOS almost getting the victory with a Lyger Bomb, but Kazen was able to get back into the match long enough to connect with his jumping chop to set FIDDY up for the Black Wings [D-Geist] and get the pinfall to become the new NDP Light-Heavyweight Champion!

"The Living Venus" Colleen made the main event scene tonight, once again against her old nemesis, Matt Shane. Colleen had a little rant before the match started, talking about how disgusted she was at having to be in the HERSHEYPARK Arena, at some event that wouldn't even have her shown on television, and how these events were "so far below me, I can't even see them when I look down." Obviously, this didn't ingratiate her to the paying audience, and as the bell rang, Matt Shane took the fight right to her, dominating the NDP Champion for a solid two minutes. Colleen had some really feeble offense in the opening, hell, half of the match, and Matt Shane was obviously determined to make up for his recent failed outings against The Living Venus. It didn't take long, though, for Colleen to resort to her usual tricks. When Matt Shane was attempting a back drop, Colleen gouged his eyes and swung Shane around with a nasty snapmare throw before getting up and repeatedly kicking Shane in the neck. Colleen almost won the match by count out after having Zachary Valentine distract the referee as she smashed him in the head with a steel chair three times, but Shane got back in at the 18-count and the match continued on for a few more minutes until a rope-assisted victory roll from Colleen gave the Living Venus the victory.
