Baxter's Television once again warmly welcomes you to the New Damage Prowrestling DamageCast.
DamageCast #12
Chinese Democracy
(You Snooze, You Lose)
Scene opens to the familiar DamageCast studio, with Miles Bell behind the desk.
[Miles:] Welcome, once again, to the New Damage Prowrestling DamageCast. We've got, as always, a fun little show planned for all of you out in internetland, and to kick things off, we have an exclusive interview with a man that has been on the program before, and who recently made his return to New Damage Prowrestling; the MDWF Champion, the Renegade, Gene Starr.
Gene Starr comes up to the DamageCast desk, and he lays down the MDWF Championship down upon it.
[Miles:] So, okay, Gene. I've gotta ask, how many people knew about your return to NDP?
[Gene:] Three.
[Miles:] Well, it certainly was a complete surprise to all of us, and, I'm sure a shock to Chapel Hillcrest.
[Gene:] Aw, jeeze, don't get me started. You know, you'd think a marquee name like Gene Starr'd be able to command some damn attention around here. Now, not that I'm upset about my surprise comeback to NDP being, you know, a surprise, but... They went all out for a guy who, let's face it, people aren't exactly falling over themselves to see. So he gets a big bash and everything, and I just had to come out and interrupt the proceedings to let people know, hey, I'm in the building, too. I just wish it could've been handled a bit better.
[Miles:] So, your solution was to get into an altercation with Chapel Hillcrest?
[Gene:] Oh, no no. I just had to go out there and put a stop to all that nonsense. The whole self-righteous, "I messed up and then I realized it and got better and changed what I shouldn't have screwed up in the first place" stuff just gets to me. Can't stand it. Plus, Chapel attacked me. I was just standing there, talkin'.
[Miles:] And now, you've got a match to prepare for where you'll actually be teaming up with Chapel Hillcrest and Jason Wesley - the Upper Class Connection - to take on Team NDP.
[Gene:] Yeah, I can bet that everyone involved is loving that. Me, though, I'm a professional. I have no problems whatsoever going through with the match, just like I have no problems going through with my match at Ascension. I'm a professional, I'm a performer, and I'll see this all through the end.
[Miles:] Speaking of seeing things through to the end, we know you're making some progress toward becoming the "true" UBL Champion. Or, NEXUS Champion, should I say?
[Gene:] Hah. That's all just personal vindication, to be honest. It's funny, I went there as the only person with a Championship and made my claim to be UBL's Champion. And suddenly, all these clowns wanna come out of the wood work and say it's not fair. Tough! If any of those idiots had a problem with it, maybe they should've beat me to the punch. Maybe they should've been Champions. Maybe they should shut the hell up and stay out of my way before they wind up hurt.
[Miles:] And is all of this part of your shift in mindset from "The Outlaw" or "Wanderer" Gene Starr to "The Renegade"?
[Gene:] Absolutely. I've finally started to find peace with everything in my life, and I've gone from feeling like this ever-traveling "man of the Earth" to finding stability in promotions like the UBL and even back here now in NDP. Having that stability has helped me shift my mindset from just "being there" to being the center of the action again. Staking my claim as UBL Champion, interrupting Chapel Hillcrest's "Oprah" moment - this is all part of that. The old Gene Starr is back, and anyone that has a problem with it can piss off.
[Miles:] And does "The Renegade" have any plans to defend that MDWF Championship here in New Damage Prowrestling? Or even UBL?
[Gene:] Unfortunately, that's still up in the air. We'd have to get authorization for that. But personally, I'd like to hold onto it even if I never get the chance to defend it again. The MDWF Championship is home, it's where it should be; with Gene Starr.
[Miles:] And there we have it. Strong words from a strong challenger and a strong Champion in "The Renegade" Gene Starr. Thank you very much for your time.
New Damage Prowrestling Maelstrom is brought to you by Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Do you desire Brawl as well?
[Miles:] Well ladies and gentlemen, it's time for everyone's favorite part of a wrestling show; the wrestling! We've got quite a match picked out for ya tonight, as Evan Divine takes on Paradigm. Keep in mind, this is the same Evan Divine that wrestled Holly Walker on Maelstrom and faces Jakob Furis in a submission match at Ascension, and the same Paradigm that went flying through the announce table during his match with Kaori NiGHT on Maelstrom. So, neither of these guys has exactly had the best luck this week, yanno? But, they're both here to prove themselves, and with rumors of a big shake-up in the Light-Heavyweight division forthcoming, they both know they've got to bust their butts and WIN! to end up with a favorable position for when the craziness goes down. So with that said, let's head to the Nameless Municipal Arena in dreary Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
-- From the Nameless Municipal Arena --
[Jr.:] Welcome one and all of you internet faeries! We're talking to you from inside your magic porn box!
[Miles:] Uh...
[Jr.:] Well, that's what my grandson calls it, consarnit.
[Miles:] You were allowed to breed. Terrifying.
[Jr.:] It's not that bad, really. The wifey, she got this newfangled video camera and--
[Miles:] And that's enough of that! We're trying to entertain these people; not mortify them!
[Jr.:] Well, it's just, we all thought it was dang entertainin'--
[Miles:] NO! LET'S GO TO THE RING NOW! NOOOOOWWWWWW!!1
And just like that, we're in the ring. Evan Divine and Paradigm both getting abbreviated entrances in order to save on hypothetical 1's and 0's, and there's the bell!
<<Singles Match>>
Evan Divine
vs.
Paradigm
[Referee:] Christopher Speil
Our two fearless light-heavyweights being this one out with a test of strength that results in Paradigm being bent backwards into a nice - but painful-looking - bridge as Evan Divine tries to pin his shoulders to the mat. Paradigm kicks Divine away, hopping up and he starts to lay in with kicks to the midsection, the two still having their hands locked, and Divine finally gives up the goat and gets to the ropes to get a reprieve.
Paradigm and Divine start off again mid-ring, but the test of strength goes nowhere as Paradigm twists Divine around and locks his arms around his neck, bringing Divine down on the back of his head with a modified Edge-o-Matic. Paradigm gets the two-count, tries to lock in an STF, but Divine is too close to the ropes. Divine and Paradigm back to their feet, and they start taking to the ropes, trading lariats and flying kicks. Paradigm ducks a flying lariat from Evan Divine, and Irish whips Divine back to the ropes, kicking him in the stomach when he makes his way back, and Paradigm with the Cradle Piledriver! Paradigm covers; one, two, three!
Paradigm wins by pinfall
Time: 7:39
[Miles:] And quick as lightning, Paradigm hits the Cradle Piledriver to put a finish to this match. Evan Divine is really not having a good streak, as he was even facing this kind of downward turn before he officially joined the roster. The win over Jakob Furis at Tribulation got Divine his contract, but, if he can't pull off some victories soon, we might be saying goodbye to Evan Divine before we know it.
[Jr.:] Meanwhile, Paradigm pulls in another impressive victory tonight, which'll certainly move him up the Light-Heavyweight Championship rankings. With 50CENTAVOS being preoccupied by Akira Blaze and the Flash Senshi, you never know when a performer like Paradigm could sneak in and snatch the Championship away right under the Champion's nose.
[Miles:] Exactly. We're not quite sure when 50CENTAVOS'll have to defend his Light-Heavyweight Championship next, but the top of the rankings is getting extremely competitive. It's really an open field at this point.
[Jr.:] After all, there can only be one NDP Light-Heavyweight Champion.
[Miles:] And that's gonna do it for this DamageCast, folks. The next one coming your way is going to be all hype for the Ascension Supercard Event - but before that, there's still a set of shows. On Outbreak, we're going to see Roselyn Pride and Trent Kasta teaming up, as well as G-Unit taking on Tuxedo Kazen and the Charcoal Lady in preparation of their match at Ascension. And then on Maelstrom, Akira Blaze and Princess Aika will be in action again, and we've got that HUGE main event of Team NDP versus the Upper Class Connection and Gene Starr. And that's all just before Ascension, where there's gonna be steel cage matches, submission matches, a preview of the NDP Trios Tag Team Championship tournament, and the NDP Championship defended in a triple threat match! So stay tuned!
[Jr.:] Yeee-aahahahaha, bitches!
[Miles:] That's not very nice.
[Jr.:] Sorry.
Fade out as the NDP Signature begins to play to the video's end.
