DamageCast #2
The Trials of Tribulation
Part II: Jason Wesley
This whole part is eventually going to be replaced by an image. Ooh! Or maybe a movie!
Instead of opening to the DamageCast studio, we open on the white, sandy shore of a small island in the Caribbean; Jason Wesley sitting reclined in a beach chair. Drinking out of a coconut shell, with a little umbrella in it, he looks relaxed. But this is only at first glance. Once the camera zooms in and we get a closer look, we see annoyed eyes peering over the top of sunglasses, and a sneer plastered on his face.
[Jason]: Yanno... sometimes, I wonder why I even bother with you, NDP. I'm in McPro, I'm in Europe, and I’m all over the world, wrestling my way to giant cheques left and right--when I get a call. "Oh Jason, please help us! Nobody watches our show anymore, we need you to brink us back from the brink!" And me, being the guy I am, with a heart that's bigger than my head... I said yes.
Jason shakes his head.
[Jason]: So I come back, doing you guys a favor, and I intended to start at the bottom and clean things up. I forsake the glory of the championship, again, for you guys, and I go after the opera nut in a bondage mask. Clearly, below my level of competition, but somebody's gotta take one for the team and do the dirty jobs. I had no problem with that.
He sits up in his seat, and pulls the glasses off.
[Jason]: But in typical NDP fashion, just as I'm getting going, just as I'm starting to make a real difference... BAM! Show's postponed. It sucks, I'm pissed, but honestly, I'm not surprised. So I deal. I get over it, and I sit and wait. I wait a month, two, three, I hear nothing from you guys one way or another. I tend to think of myself as a patient guy, but I'm also a guy at my physical and mental peak, in the prime of my life. I can't just sit around and shrivel away. So, I go to the bank, and I cash in my giant cheques. I take the money, and I play the stock market. As usual, I excel, and I DOMINATE wall street. All the while, I hear nothing from you guys. Four, five, six, TEN frickin' months pass!
Jason swings his legs to the side, and slowly stands up, gesturing towards the background.
[Jason]: So... I find myself here, enjoying my success on the most luxurious vacation liner the Caribbean has to offer. It is SWEET. I'm completely relaxed, working on my tan, and wouldn't ya know it...... just about the time I've pushed the abortion that's NDP to the back of my mind, my cell phone rings.
He puts his hands to his hips, and sighs loudly.
[Jason]: It's NDP! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
[/sarcasm]
[Jason]: "Hey Jason, we're still not ready to do the actual show yet, but could you come inland to talk about it for this podcast thing in case we do it anytime soon?" .....and I'm thinking to myself, why did I agree to this? Sometimes being a stand-up guy sucks, yanno?
He slumps back down into the seat, momentarily putting his head into his hands, before looking back towards the camera, and blowing his bangs out of his face.
[Jason]: Lucky for you guys I am a stand-up guy, though. So here I am... But that's not to say I'm happy about it. I'm not happy that I've gotta take time out of my vacation to talk smack to some whack-job who cosplays Phantom of the Opera. So, Mr. E, I want you to loosen that mask, so it doesn't affect your hearing, 'cause I'm only going to say this once. I don't know how your memory is, so allow me to refresh it: last time you and I were in the same ring, I slapped a kimura on you, I you tapped out. But that night, you got lucky. If and when Tribulation ever takes place... that arm's comin' off. SNAP! Clean off at the elbow! And then I'm gonna rip that stupid mask off, and stick the nub down your throat. Better get that fat lady ready to sing for ya... 'cause you're gonna have a mouth full.
See what he did there?
The end of Jason Wesley’s suntime-funday rant brings us to the DamageCast studio, where Visper Karr stands behind the desk/podium, saying something to one of the stagehands.
[Visper:] …shoot in the Caribbean?! Why didn’t anybody tell me?! I’m the freakin’ host of this thing—why am I not going to the great on-site locations?!
The stagehand shrugs, looks at the camera, and then backs out when he notices the record light is on. Visper realizes what’s up, and looks back to the camera with a smile.
[Visper:] Welcome, ladies and gents, to this week’s DamageCast. We’re continuing our march to the Tribulation supercard event, looking at the competitors in our a highly-anticipated matches, this episode focusing on the man you just saw - in the freakin’ Caribbean - Jason Wesley. His match against Mr. E, while Mr. Wesley might not feel great about it, is one a lot of us are looking forward to, especially after all the damage these two have done to each other since Jason Wesley came back to New Damage Prowrestling to call Mr. E one of the things holding NDP back. And to show what Jason Wesley is capable of, we’ve gone back and scoured the archives to find what we believe is his greatest match, the finals of the NDP Championship Tournament, a two-of-three falls match between Jason Wesley and Flip Staley to crown the first NDP Champion.

"CHAMPIFIED!" Jason Wesley (w/ Midori Kuwahara)
vs.
"Complete" Flip Staley (w/ Aika Sugiyama)
The bell rings, and these two waste no time with silly tying up shit. Jason hits hard with an elbow pat, but Flip drops low with a drop toe hold. Neck throw from Staley, Irish whip from Jason, and he hammers Flip with a running lariat. Flip scores a straight punch to Jason's jaw and gives Jason a brainbuster. Jason rolls to the outside, holding his jaw, and slides back in. Snapmare from Flip and Flip gives Jason another brainbuster. Dropkick to the face of Jason Wesley, and Flip continues to dominate Jason with a heavy, bone-shattering spinebuster. Flip pulls Jason back to his feet and Jason gives Flip a thumb to the eye, twisting Flip's right arm back behind him and giving Flip a shoulder tackle, charging the corner and slamming Flip into the corner, with Flip's arm taking some heavy impact.
[Visper:] What a move from Jason Wesley! Taking a big chunk out of that arm to weaken Flip up and soften him for the Udehishigi.
Snap suplex out of the corner from Jason, and he whips Flip to the ropes, going for a running kenka kick, but Flip ducks under only to get nailed by an ace crusher as Flip tries to capitalize. Jason covers Flip; one-- barely a one-count!
Jason locks in a back roll neck lock, tryin' to end this one early, but Flip's having none of it, reaching his foot out and getting it on the bottom rope. Jason waits for as much of that 5-count as possible to release the hold, getting up and slapping Flip in the back of the head as he stands up. Flip swings and Jason ducks, grabbing the arm and twisting it back behind Flip and slamming him with massive force back into the turnbuckle, Flip's arm again taking the brunt of the impact. DDT from Wesley, and he goes for another pin, still barely getting one.
Leg drop across Flip's chest, neck throw from Flip, and Flip follows up with a snapmare. Reverse chin lock from Flip, and he digs his knee into Jason's back pretty heavily. Flip pulls back with all his might as Jason claws at Flip's clasped fingers, trying to break the hold. Flip sets back, adding more pressure into the reverse chin lock, and Jason lets out a scream, still clawing at Flip's hands. Jason pulls hard at Flip's hands and finally manages to break the hold, sending Flip crashing himself back into the mat. They're back up at nearly the same time, with Flip whipping Jason to the ropes, nailing him with a spinebuster. Flip whips Jason to the corner and charges in, nailing Jason with a flying back elbow. Flip starts driving his shoulder deep into Jason's midsection, giving as many shots as he can before the ref forces him off. Lifting takedown from Flip and he tosses Jason outside to give himself a chance to catch his breath.
Jason gets back into the ring at the 6-count, and tries for the back neck roll lock again, but Flip shoves him off before Jason can even start locking it in, bringing Jason up on his shoulders and nailing a Death Valley driver! Jason tosses Flip outside and follows him out by hitting a diving guillotine drop on Flip from inside the ring!! Jason pulls Flip up and starts the powerbomb whip, but Flip reverses at the vertical peak, turning it into a huge spiking frankensteiner!! Flip stumbles up after the frankensteiner whip, and gets back into the ring as the ref counts 14. Jason takes a bit longer, but manages to get up and get in at 17. Jason whips Flip to the corner and stalks in. Jason sets Flip on the turnbuckle, trying to set up Flip for the Super-Champification Effect - the same move that sealed the top-tier finals against Colleen Dramesi. Flip resists and clubs Jason across the back, shoving him off and down to the mat! Flip looks over at Aika, who seems to be signaling something through all the bouncing, and Flip leaps off the turnbuckle, nailing Flip with a diving guillotine leg drop!! Flip goes for the pin; one, two, three- NOO!!!
[Jr.:] BAH GAWD Jason kicked out at the last possible mili-second! That was too close for Jason Wesley's comfort, I tell you what!

15 seconds later.
The bell rings, and round two is off and running!! Jason starts off on the offensive, giving Flip a shoulder armbreaker and locking in a Fujiwara armbar. Flip shouts in pain, after already having had his arm take some bit damage during the first match. Jason rolls Flip over for the pin and the win; one, two, thr-- Flip kicks out!!
Jason again looks less than pleased, pulling Flip to his feet. Jason whips Flip to the ropes but Flip reverses, bringing Jason right in and nailing the Staley Concept! BANG!!
[Jr.:] Staley Concept outta NOWHERE BAH GAWD!!
Jason no-sells the Staley Concept and Flip charges in, right into a Champification Effect! But Flip no-sells the Champification Effect!! Jason takes him down with an enzuigiri, however, and nails a snap suplex to follow. DDT from Wesley, and Flip retaliates with a standing spinebuster before taking to the ropes and nailing a running sunset flip! Samoan drop from Staley, and he drops a big elbow across the neck of Jason Wesley. Flip rolls Jason over for the pin; one, two, thr-- kick out!!
Flip pulls Jason to his feet, but Jason grabs Flip and tosses him outside over the top rope, sliding out of the ring after him. Jason rolls back into the ring at 13, and Flip someone manages to get back up at 16, but can't make it back in until just as the ref was about to count him out!! What a save.
Rolling elbow from Jason, and Flip responds with a neck throw and a dropkick to Jason's head. Whip to the ropes from Flip and Jason gets nailed by a back elbow. Staley Concept!! Flip pulls Jason away from the ropes and covers; one, two, three!!!

-- Back to the Studio --
[Visper:] Now, you might think it's weird to show a losing effort for Jason Wesley as his "best match", but, c'mon! Look at it! It had everything! Jason certainly shows off his skill and ability in this two-of-three falls match, sticking with Flip Staley step-for-step until the very end of the match, which could have just as easily gone to Jason Wesley. Mr. E will be a different opponent, but to think that Jason Wesley won't have a solid gameplan against the Violence Tenor is foolish at best.
Well, controversy aside, thank you once again, ladies and gentlemen, for joining our little show here. Be here next week, as we continue the Trials of Tribulation by featuring Jason Wesley’s opponent, Mr. E.
Fade out as the NDP Signature plays to the video's end.
